Municipality of Grevena: Event for composting bins
The Municipality of Grevena in collaboration with DIADYMA held an open event on the recycling of biowaste on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 28, 2020 in the Central Square. More specifically, the composting of household food waste that is done within the program “Separate at Source”, is implemented in a pilot programme in Grevena since last January with the installation of brown bins in the neighborhood “Ergatikes katoikies”. In fact, their gradual development has already began in other parts of the city, while the goal of the Municipality is to fully expand the network throughout the city by the end of the year through the funding expected from the NSRF.
The event was attended Mayor of Grevena Mr. George Dastamanis, Deputy Mayors Mr. Zisis Kiakas, Mr. Dimitris Bolis and Mr. Christos Petrou, attended in the event. The representative of DIADYMA, Mrs. Katerina Giannakoula, explained the procedure and the purpose of the programme.
It is worth mentioning that during the event, small brown bins for household waste were distributed free of charge to the world, while many of our fellow citizens showed special interest in the practice of composting, which is constantly gaining ground in the Municipality of Grevena.
